Florence Charter, journalism and journalisms pass through here

On October 7th and 8th, Florence will host a special event for Italian journalism: the Florence Charter will be created, a new code of ethics for journalists that aims to restore dignity to the profession.

On the 7th and 8th of October, Florence will be the stage for a special event for Italian journalism: the Florence Map, a new code of ethics for journalists that aims to restore dignity to the profession. The "Paper of Florence" will be a guarantee tool, an innovative code of ethics for today's journalists in order to consolidate their relationship with readers and publishers. Florence Map It is an initiative of the National Order of Journalists, the National Federation of the Italian Press, the Tuscan Order of Journalists, and the Tuscan Press Association.

The FNSI National Autonomous Work Commission (CLAN, from its acronym), of which I am a member, has also been called into question (rightly so) given the expertise of the Press Federation's body and the commission's members. The meeting is scheduled for next fall, but before arriving in Florence, there will still be a long way to go, involving information professionals.

At the Florence Map All journalists, freelancers, and professionals, who daily grapple with the new and the old, who refuse to accept change, will be able to contribute. From the coordination groups of precarious journalists to the freelancers, from collaborators to contract workers, the Florence Map It needs everyone. It will be especially the strongest (those with contracts) who must exercise responsibility so that their contribution goes to those without contracts and who are forced to live, daily, as temporary workers or freelance journalists who often cannot claim any rights, not even the right to practice journalism.

“We don't have in mind a Wailing Wall demonstration” Enzo Iacopino of the Order of Journalists and the president of the FNSI, Roberto Natale, stated "After much preparatory work, the time has come to send a strong signal, demanding, both internally and among our colleagues, dignity, collaboration, and rights for truly high-quality national news."

To support the Florence Map An Internet campaign and a social media plan will be launched with word of mouth, seminars, and workshops because Italian journalism wants to restart from the bottom up.
