I read in disbelief that the journalistic accreditation request for the Venice Biennale now has a cost: 60.00 Euros. I believe that the initiative taken by the organizers of the Venetian event is unprecedented. The numerous requests coming from the very professionals who make the Biennale of Venice’s events known to the public Biennale of Venice have obviously enticed the organizers who, in addition to charging those who are simply doing their job, have also reserved the right to accept or reject accreditation requests. To think that this initiative has been undertaken by the very foundation (the Venice Biennale Foundation) whose mission is the dissemination of culture and art, as opposed to those who report on the various events.
This type of “business” was not at all appreciated by the National Association of Journalists which expressed its astonishment and disappointment.
